Some December Thoughts

Exciting it is to see the icicles and flakes outside my window

To wear boots and make footprints in the snow.

As we walk to the corner to catch the yellow bus

The wind blows on our noses to chilling temps.

The sun visits occasionally- clouds cover up its space.

The trees are greenly bare, but laden with snow.

The evergreen ones look just like Christmas trees

Only void of ribbons and ornaments and lights.

Google Maps should change the green areas to white here

As we drive around to see the parks and fields covered with snow.

It is picture perfect like a Christmas Card-

God's most amazing canvas coming to life in winter.

The season is so cold, but makes you feel warm inside-

Yet why do so many have bitter hearts and jealous minds.

It makes me wonder how this world can ever change for the better

Not just in photos, but in reality too.

How can Christmas be more about Christ, and less about us?

How can December be a month of change, and not about rigidity?

Why can't these beautiful sights around us inspire to purify minds?

Why can't we allow Jesus be born in our hearts too and spread His cheer around?

As I look out of my window and as the cars rush by,

I pray for peace and joy to all mankind-

As the smells of Gingerbread cookies and apple pies fill the air,

Let us have contrite heart and spread more love around-

As that is what the first Christmas meant and what God intends for us all.
