THE ELEVENTH MONTH

Image
Written back in November 2015...while awaiting my precious little bundle of joy- Daphne....💗 This month brings back beautiful memories...and so many moments to be grateful for....🙏 Just reposting here...6 years later....💟 November has always been a beautiful month. The climate is cool almost all over the world -less exams in the academic scenario -and preparations everywhere for the greatest season of all. In every way, this month is an easy-going, happy one. For a person who was born in November, it has always been my favourite because I surely would get some kind of gift or treat. I always have tried to share my joy whether in school, college, church or even at my workplaces. Would never forget my 26th birthday when my students -ISC 2012 of MTRS- surprised me with an amazing party - after school! Memories of November have almost always been good ones. I remember celebrating my childhood birthdays together with my grandmother, dad, an aunt and an uncle because we all had it in the

MUDDY PUDDLES

Image
Jumping in those puddles Every Monsoon day, on the way back home Was such a worrisome delight as those socks  Were going straight to the washing machine.  My mom wouldn't enrage back then Once she saw those spots of mud  On my dress or shoes either as I would have to wash them myself anyways. Splashing into each pool of rainwater Was a symbol of freedom,  A sign of nature’s blessings- the rain and The fresh free air around.  Today, puddles seem to me  As a burden- a bother- you know- My dress gets dirty-  I don't like to wash extra now! But it's nice to have a little me To remind me the past carefree days- My girl who loves to splish splosh into Muddy puddles just like Peppa and George.  May God bless the hearts of little children Who can freely jump into them pools God, please take care of those kids in this evil world, Who are barred from being just kids.  -Remya Rachel Thomas

ODE TO THE BEST SINGER OF OUR HOME

Image
I've always wanted to write one of these, Though I may not follow the hardcore rules of Shelley.  Mine is about the best singer in my home- A singer no one could beat.  You sang with a different rhythm, a different tone And a different note.  You sang never endlessly at times- for us all-  Solving the little issues, mending those little tears.  This singer had no other name- It sat in the corner- for years and years. This singer had a special connection with my Mom- She can tell you many tales of the days of yore.  You know our stories more than anyone else- Having been the weaver of many yourself.  Whether it was our happy days or sad- Christmases, Baptisms and even Weddings.  Just like an old Grandfather's clock- A witness to everything. But now, you have stopped short- Never to seam again, never to sing again.  You always felt like my elder sibling- Next year, you would have turned 40-  I will surely miss you, even though we may think Money can replace you anytime now.  Lo

THE FLIPPED TEACHER

Image
There is plenty to be learned even from a bad Teacher; what not to do, how not to be.  - J K Rowling.  It is truly good to say about the Best Teacher you had in school or to remember the Cool Professor from College, while we do usually avoid mentioning those TEACHERS who were a terror or morally degrading. A Teacher is rarely portrayed as a psychopath or a demon 😈- as kids of all ages usually adore their teachers initially- with the hope that they will learn something worthwhile from them. I'm going to flip out the real image of Teachers- but very mildly, okay? As we are still going through difficult times, with the pandemic so not over yet and experiencing immense new facilities and trainings from the Education Departments with the NEP in mind, and with the hybrid (online + offline) mode of teaching on the rise - Teachers still have to maintain a composed and mature stature and let the storms keep hitting. ⛈ Whether you were a teacher back in the 18th century or are a teacher n

NO TURNING BACK

A small Virus has taken over our lives for the past 20 months now.  COVID-19 has shaken the very base of human life all over this world. It has opened more arenas for research and virology to find out the depths of this organism, but with little time to find a solution. Even when we think the vaccines are the answer to our fears, there is no guarantee how long this will give life extension or how valid it is.  Human knowledge has its limits. Human understanding cannot see beyond and predict the future. Human hands will never be able to stop the calamities. We just have to face the realities and move on.   What was the greatest calamity we know from the Bible? Yes, the Great Flood. Why was the Flood brought about? - Because mankind was immoral; out of control; and not listening to God Almighty anymore. - Except one family. Noah was the Chosen One back then- chosen to save the world and all that is in it. Humans, animals, birds, plants and trees- lost their existence. Maybe the sea life

TO THE SOCIAL MEDIA POLICE- AND THE SILENT CYBER CRIMINALS

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."                                                                   ―  George Orwell What a thought, right.   Everyone has a weapon these days; a powerful gadget. What you do with it, is totally up to you.  Pen is mightier than the sword was the old saying. Now times have changed. Your finger is mightier than the sword, my friends. Yeah, your finger, which swipes across all corners of the world and makes sure things happen right everywhere. Your finger, which can type in any nonsense, sorry, any genuine opinion and make it reach wherever you want it to. Social media. Our world of action and entertainment- better than a Bollywood film. But let me ask you, when the media has no guarantee these days, then how can we rely on the forwards and gossips on social media? How can we judge someone or know for sure who and what to believe in these days?  Whether we believe it or not, we have
